OPERATOR? I ? WATER TREATMENT

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary requires a Water Treatment Plant Operator I for various functions in and around the Greater Trail, B.C. area.

The City of Trail is situated on the Columbia River in the West Kootenays, 9 kilometers north of the Canada-USA border. Nestled in the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges, Trail is a four-season destination, offering an abundance of outstanding recreational activities ? from golfing to skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, hunting, fishing and hiking ? as well as first-class sports and recreational facilities.

The Water Treatment Plant Operator I reports to the Chief Operator and will assist in the efficient operation of various Water Systems in accordance with established policies, practices and procedures.? Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of various water treatment facilities, associated pumping stations, hydrants, wells, and water mains.? The Water Treatment Plant Operator I must be a conscientious individual and aware of subtle changes in plant processes and its corresponding related infrastructure.? Additionally, this position will also aids in other current RDKB utility operations, including Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment.?

The preferred candidates will possess a current WTP Level I Certification with EOCP; have a good knowledge of standards, methods, principles and procedures used in the safe operation and maintenance of Water Systems.? Additionally, the preferred candidate will also possess certifications in, or be familiar with wastewater collection, wastewater treatment and water distribution.

This is a permanent full time CUPE bargaining unit position and offers an hourly rate of $29.60 (January 1, 2012), along with a competitive benefits package. A full job description is available at www.rdkb.com.
