Kenya gets tough on hate speech ahead of polls

Kenya's assistant minister for water,?Fedinard Waititu, faces charges of incitement to violence after a speech this week. Kenya is trying to avoid a repeat?of the 2007 election violence.

By Fredrick Nzwili,?Correspondent / September 28, 2012

A Kenyan assistant minister yesterday became the most recent politician to face charges of incitement to violence, as the East African country gets tough on incitement and hate speech ahead of general elections this coming March.

The last major elections in Kenya turned bloody: Hate speeches were widely viewed as contributing to the post election violence. The troubles began in?December 2007 after President Mwai Kibaki, a member of the Kikuyu tribe, was declared the winner and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, a member of the Luo tribe, rejected the results as rigged.?By the time the violence ended two months later, an estimated 1,300 people had died and more than 600,000 were displaced.

To avoid a repeat of election violence, Kenyan officials are clamping down on speeches that inflame ethnic animosities.?Attorney General Githu Muigai told Parliament that the assistant minister's case will serve as an example of the government's resolve.

?The government wants to send a strong message that nobody, no matter how high or low, will escape the full force of the law on this matter of hate speech," said Mr. Muigai, in a televised speech Wednesday. "This is case is good example, it will send clear warning to the people inciting communities against each other."

Fedinard Waititu, the assistant minister for water, appeared in court yesterday under tight security after dodging police for days until a high court judge ordered him to surrender. Mr. Waititu has apologized for his words, but has denied the charges. The case will come for hearing in November.

A stolen chicken

Earlier this week, while visiting Kayole estate in Nairobi?s Eastlands area, Waititu had urged the area residents to flush out members of the Maasai community, whose men are employed as night watchmen, for killing a street boy who had stolen a chicken.

?We are saying we do not want to see members of the Maasai in Kayole from today,? Waititu told the charged crowd. ?They must leave ? anybody can be employed as a watchman.?

Riots sparked off soon after.?

Presenting the case in court, state counsel Lillian Obuo told the court yesterday that??[Waititu's] utterance caused the crowd to hunt for the Maasai?and in the process, Lucas Mitibon and Nyagusi Ole Sindoe were attacked, injured, and property destroyed. Two people were also killed in the process ? as a result of the utterances."

Waititu's case is buzzing in Kenyan social media.?

?At this time as we head to elections, anyone inciting Kenyans against each other should not receive any leniency! I hope the same law that gave him some reprieve will lock him in soon. For your information, I voted for him and am quite disappointed,? posted Stephen Kisevu Dedan on Facebook on Tuesday.

?Ferdinard Waititu should not escape prosecution for incitement and murder by calling for all Maasai to leave Kayole ... one person already dead,? tweeted Brian Mung?ei on Monday.

For his part, Waititu has issued an apology: "It was a slip of the tongue. I?apologize to the Maasai. I meant those who are crooked and those are not from Kenya."?

Kareke Mbiuki, an assistant Minister for Agriculture coming to the defense of Waititu urged the Maasai to forgive him.?

"Anybody who issues an apology should be forgiven. Waititu is beseeching the Maasai and Kenyans to forgive him. They should forgive him, forget the utterance and then we live in peace as Kenyans," said Mr. Mbiuki.?

Lessons learned?

But analysts say if such speeches are not checked,?there could be a repeat of the 2007-2008 post election violence.?

?With such utterances, we get very concerned. Cohesion and integration efforts are yet to be effective at the ground and such utterances push the communities further apart. We urge strong action to be taken against those who are trying to incite and peddle hate speech,? says Wainaina Ndung?u, the executive director of the International Center for Policy and Conflict, an independent research and advocacy organization based in Nairobi.

?It appears that our politicians did not learn anything from that violence. This is because they still kept their jobs, salaries, and their security," he adds.

On Sept. 17, Environment Minister Chirau Makwere was cleared of hate speech charges after he made a public apology to Kenyans. And on Sept. 13,?Dhado Godana, an assistant minister for livestock, was charged with incitement and fired for utterances tied to unrest that left 110 people dead in clashes between the?Orma and Pokomo tribes.

How to get the Google Maps web app to run fullscreen with the old icon on iOS 6

I?ve been lucky enough to have generally decent experiences with Apple?s new Maps app. I?ve had my share of quirks, but the data is definitely ?right enough? in my areas for me to use it as my primary mapping tool.

But, every once in a while, I still find myself wanting to check to see if a restaurant or store is really where it says it is. So I use the Google Maps web app from my home screen once in a while. The frustration with that is that the app launches from the home screen with the Safari browser chrome still attached, which takes up space that could be used for more maps. And it uses Google?s web app icon, not the old classic iOS 5 Maps app icon, which I like a lot better.

Well, web developer Ben Guild felt the same and way back in July, he designed two special installable web profiles (mobile configurations) for the iPhone and iPad that will install the Google Maps web app to your home screen with the original iOS 5 icon and launch the apps full-screen. And they?re super easy to get running, just tap a link and hit the install button on the profile.

Here?s what the icon will look like and a comparison shot of the web app running from Guild?s shortcut vs. from the standard web clip:

To install the profiles, visit Guild?s blog here and click on the appropriate link for your device. Enter your passcode and you?ve got a fullscreen, original icon Maps app ready to go.

Thanks to Diego Torres for pointing out this easier method to me, as I went and used Apple?s developer tools to package a native version of the app, which was kind of a pain.

The wallpaper, by the way (because I know you?re going to ask, as it?s gorgeous) is by Marc Edwards of Bjango.

2 dozen join NY JetBlue lawsuit over pilot scare

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) ? Two dozen passengers joined a lawsuit in New York on Thursday against JetBlue Airways Corp. stemming from a pilot's rant during a cross-country flight.

They are now among 34 passengers who claim they feared for their lives when a pilot had to be restrained in the cabin while ranting wildly during the March Las Vegas-bound flight. The flight was diverted and safely landed in Amarillo, Texas.

An amended lawsuit was filed in federal court in Brooklyn; the original lawsuit was filed in June in state Supreme Court but was moved to federal court at the request of the airline, according to the amended complaint.

It claims JetBlue was "grossly negligent" in allowing Capt. Clayton Osbon to fly. Osbon was charged with interference with a flight crew, but he was found not guilty by reason of insanity in July.

A JetBlue spokeswoman said Thursday the airline does not comment on pending litigation.

A forensic neuropsychologist testified in a short, unpublicized trial that Osbon had a "brief psychotic disorder" at the time of the flight, brought on by lack of sleep.

Passengers said Osbon left the cockpit during the March 27 flight. He ran through the plane's cabin yelling about Jesus and al-Qaida.

After the trial, Osbon was sent to a prison medical facility in North Carolina for evaluation. He was scheduled to return to Amarillo federal court in August for another hearing on whether he should go free or be sent to a mental health facility. Instead, U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson extended Osbon's evaluation period to Oct. 15, with a final evaluation report due to her by the end of that month.

Robinson said she was notified by a forensic psychologist that Osbon had suffered another "psychotic episode." She did not say what the nature of the episode was, if it was connected to his previous disorder or what prompted it.

A flight attendant's ribs were bruised as passengers tried to restrain Osbon, but no one on board was seriously injured.

Attorneys Jonathan Reiter and Steve Epstein, who represent the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, have said they intend to seek information on whether there were any indications Osbon had shown signs of mental instability before March 27.

The lawsuit also claims he was "yelling about September 11th, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, al-Qaida and terrorists."

Other comments, according to the suit, included: "we're all going down," ''you better start praying right now," ''I'm going to show you Iraq and Iran right now," ''there's a bomb on board," and "the plane will never make it to Vegas."

One passenger, Richard Signoretti, 48, of Rosedale, N.Y., said when the first suit was filed in June that he was listening to music when the woman next to him poked him to get his attention after the trouble started.

"What I got from him was, 'You're not going to make it to Las Vegas,'" Signoretti said. "It was extremely frightening, it was extremely unnerving. I still haven't gotten a good night's sleep."

The plaintiffs, mostly from the New York area, are seeking $2 million in damages for emotional distress.

Seniors Using Technology | NCC News

? 2012 Ashley Allen

by Ashley Allen SYRACUSE (NCC News) - Senator DeFrancisco held his annual senior fair on Thursday,?and hundreds of senior citizens arrived looking for advice about transportation, health, and recreation.

But they also saw a presentation about the way the internet can improve their daily lives. Time Warner Cable was?there to answer questions about broadband internet usage for seniors.

Stephanie Salanger, Communications Manager at Time Warner Cable, said only 35% of seniors use the internet. Their goal is to help?seniors navigate through this technology that is still new to many of them.

?The main reason are senior customers use the internet is to stay in touch with their families. They use Skype, they use email. So what we?re trying to do is expand that use, but also show them all the other benefits. There?s great links to government organizations, social security, healthcare organizations that help them get that information,? Salanger said.

Organizations like Project Goal are also working to make it easier for older adults to use internet services.

Seniors getting familiar with internet use

Although the number is small, some seniors are ahead of their friends and using the internet frequently.

One woman said most of?her friends?don?t even have a computer because they don?t understand how to use it.

?I took a course on how to use the computer, because it?s very complicated for senior citizens,? she said.

Ron Pytko said he uses?the internet?to check the news, weather, and even gather coupons. But frustration sets in when his computer gives him strange error messages.

?That?s the only problem if you really don?t know a?lot of it. It suits my needs, what I know. I could probably know a lot more but I?m just too lazy to learn it. I don?t wanna get too in depth with it,? Pytko said.

Problems getting access to a computer

For some seniors, the hardest part is simply finding a computer to use.

Fred Heath said he lives in a senior center where he doesn?t have access to a computer, and most seniors don?t have the money to buy one.

?If they had a computer available, there would be more using them. Organizations should give their older?ones to the senior centers, so they could set one or two of them up in each one,? Heath said.

Turning Your Art Into A Canvas Print

If you are an artist and you really love to give your art away for a nice price but you dont really have much time for the demand that you have for your paintings then why not try and get some canvas prints made up from your own artwork, that way if you do get to busy then you can offer your won customers the option to have one of your paintings printed on canvas at a reduced prices thus you are getting a little more time from this and they are getting a picture they wanted but at a reduced price as the canvas print quality you get form an artwork print id totally amazing and I can recommend this to anyone that really wants to have their artwork printed to canvas as the results look exactly the same as your own artwork, the only way you can tell the difference would be if you run you hand across the canvas print and you will see that it is actually a canvas photo print rather than the real thing as from a little distance it would look the same as the original art as you will have all the detail as the painting did with the brush strokes and the printed look of the pours in the canvas to, most inkjet canvas will have some pours anyway so you still get a nice textured canvas print at the end of it to.

So if you do have some artwork and your looking to get some canvas printing done with your artwork then you might want to test a few different canvas printers and see which one your prefer as all the canvas printers canvas printing will inevitably look amazing but some use different types of canvas and ink and different printing techniques so you might want to just get either a sample canvas print form them of your work or just select a small canvas print from there range of sizes to see what quality they are capable of producing and then once your happy with a particular canvas printer then you will be able to select them to print a few different painting for you to then sell on to your own clients, its a really helpful and effect way to stock your artwork as we all know it takes time to paint a picture and if you are very busy and you only have so much time and you have someone that wants a painting that you have already done in the past then you can just get this printed on canvas which also comes framed to and just give them this, Im sure they would be very happy with it to as theres not that much difference from a painted canvas to a printed canvas.

One little tip I would give you if you are getting your paintings transferred to canvas prints would be either scan the painting in if you have access to a scanner this would be the best way to get the best quality image to print form or if indeed you dont have a scanner then you can stand over your painting in good light and get a birds eye view photography of it to send to the printer to print and this would still give you great results with your photo canvas printing artwork masterpieces.

The Rich Match Making: Love, Dating and Marriage

For one who has spent quite a number of years on the love, dating and marriage scene, I feel qualified to make certain bold statements. Without apology it is quite clear that every normal human being desires to be happy. However let the truth be told to those who care to listen that being married or being single has nothing to do with being happy. Deciding to get married because you are presently unhappy may open you up to a rude shock! Conversely, deciding to stay single because many marriages these days don't last may leave you equally unfulfilled and unhappy. Being happy is a choice, remaining single is a choice and being married is a choice. You can CHOOSE to be the way you want to be. What you choose is what you become! It is this basic lack of understanding that has precipitated the numerous cries of "help save my marriage" that is noised all over the place these days.

The western world has the greatest number of relationship experts, counselors, books and materials yet holds the record of having the highest divorce rate, most number of single parents, and a greater ratio of single women of marriageable age to married than at any other period in time. Furthermore there is a consistent move away from heterosexual relationship and an emphasis on same sex relationship/marriage.

In my extensive study and research on the internet, one cannot but wonder if the aim of these so called experts giving advice in love relationship is to mislead the vulnerable, gullible and unsuspecting consumers of their products and services and sabotage their relationships. One of the tenets of capitalism is to find out what the consumers want, produce, sell and make a killing out of it. The direct consequence of this phenomenon on the relationship scene is that in order to produce best-sellers, experts have continued to churn out stuffs that THE CONSUMERS WANT TO HEAR not the things they NEED TO HEAR!!! No wonder the high rate of relationship failure and a destruction of the marriage and family institutions. It is all a game of numbers, and bountiful sales lead to plenty dollars in the bank. It is this burden to make a positive difference in the lives of people and correct all the false psychological theories that birthed this article

Marriage comes with certain ENJOYMENTS that singles are not afforded. Marriage is an adventure that you are encouraged to explore. However with the enjoyments come the responsibilities. Note that you may enjoy without being happy. You may enjoy the financial security that comes with being married or the sex, the status, the respect you are given for being a married woman/man, the joy of parenthood e.t.c No wonder some stay married despite the fact that they are not really happy. The reason is that there are some aspects of the relationship that they are enjoying and to them the benefit of staying married outweighs the divorce/single life option.

UNDERSTANDING THE RESPONSIBILITIES

The male man (man) and the female man (woman) are both human beings but with different roles. In a relationship, two is attempting to become one. They must thus understand that to operate as ONE TEAM each must understand and operate in its

unique role. The male becomes the HEAD of the team while the female becomes the HEART of the team. The man is called to lead while the woman is called to help. The heart is the organ to love with while the head is the organ to think, reason and coordinate with. As the heart, it is easy for the woman to be tender and loving but she has to learn to yield, submit to the leadership of her man and to complement and not compete with him. As the head, it is easy for the man to lead and co-ordinate and take the initiative but he must learn to be tender and loving always responding to the heart deep advice and nudging of the woman. This is the perfect team! Anything other than this arrangement is CONFUSION!!

The woman in a relationship may be intelligent and richer than the man but she

has to step aside and let him take charge because that is his calling. To illustrate this: Take for example a car. All the occupants of the car may know how to drive. But to get them to their mutual destination only one of them will have to drive. This is because there is only one driver seat. Others may give their opinion as to where and when to turn in order to get them to where they are going but the decision and the responsibility lies in the hands of the driver. That is the man's role. The moment each person in the relationship understands that marriage comes with enjoyments as well as responsibilities and each person is willing to accept and carry out their responsibilities, true happiness will be the result. This I believe is the best relationship love advice that can be offered at such a difficult time on the relationships scene.

(AP) ? Mitt Romney says the nation's debt could grow to almost $20 trillion if the country re-elects President Barack Obama.

Romney also says his policies would do more to help middle-class families than the president's.

Campaigning in Ohio, where polls give the advantage to Obama, the Republican presidential nominee combined a sharper focus on the mounting debt with an insistence that middle-class families are struggling.

Said Romney: "I want to help them."

The national debt is $16 trillion and growing. Romney says the interest payments alone cost more than what the U.S. spends on several government departments combined.

Romney planned two additional stops Wednesday in Ohio.

Dwyane Wade Talks Fatherhood, Life On 'CBS This Morning' ? CBS ...

MIAMI (CBSMiami) ? From the basketball courts of Miami to the streets of New York City, Dwayne Wade?s celebrity status is evident.

While other NBA champions take the summer off to relish their ring and their right to relax, Wade has been making the rounds promoting his new book and rehabbing a knee that kept him from the Olympics.

He promises the injury will not keep him from next season.

?It?s good to go,? he said.

Wade made it known there?s more to his ?game of life? than parquet floors and free-throws as he sat down with Gayle King on CBS This Morning.

?Being a father is my greatest gift in life,? Wade said. ?God has blessed me with so many gifts. But I think being a father to those two young guys right there is my biggest challenge.?

Wade?s new book ?A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball?? tells his story of fatherhood, a very ugly, public divorce, gaining full custody of his kids and the lessons he learned along the way.

?I didn?t feel like speaking ill of her and would do anything for them and their relationship,? he said. ?Would it make me feel better? It?s not about me.?

Wade recalled the first year with his ?new? team and all the critics who had things to say about the Heat.

?I thought that first year we didn?t handle it well,? he said. ?I thought we took on a villain role.?

But that?s all changed.

Like fatherhood, and life itself, Wade is learning to take it all in stride and he?s having a good time along the way.

Wade will be back in South Florida this weekend for a couple of local book signings.

He?s got one scheduled for Friday Sept. 7th from 7:00 ? 9:00 p.m. at Books & Books at the?Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale and another Sunday Sept. 9th at 11:00 a.m. at?Books & Books in Coral Gables.

If you?re interested in attending either book signing, you must purchase a book voucher from Books & Books to enter the event line.

Many D-League Alumni Signing Longterm Contracts in NBA

HOUSTON, TX - JULY 19: Jeremy Lin of the Houston Rockets speaks to the media as he is introduced during a press conference at Toyota Center on July 19, 2012 in Houston, Texas. Lin has signed a three year $25 million dollar contract with the Houston Rockets. (Photo by Bob Levey/Getty Images)

For many D-League prospects, simply playing and fighting for that chance to squeeze onto an NBA roster (even if only for a 10 day contract or two) is often still worth the difficult grind.

In recent seasons, however, we have seen more and more prospects not only receive call-ups, but also stay put and even make an impact on NBA teams.

With such success comes a potential future in the league, and this summer many fans watched as many D-League alumni signed longterm deals in the offseason. Of course, Jeremy Lin was quite the headliner of these various signings, receiving a $25 million, three year contract from the Rockets.

But who were some of the other D-League alum to also sign lucrative deals heading into next season? Let's take a look after the jump.

Star-divide

One of Lin's former teammates on the 2010-11 Bighorns, Danny Green, emerged as a key cog in the Spurs' engine this past season. The guard averaged 9.1 points and 3.5 rebounds, shooting 44% from downtown while playing 23.1 minutes per game. Green appeared in all 66 games (starting 38), and parlayed his success into a three year contract, worth $12 million with San Antonio.

The Bighorns were certainly stacked with talent that season, because Knicks sharpshooting forward Steve Novak also joined Lin and Green on the squad. Like Green, the Marquette product became known for his long-range bombs. Novak averaged 8.8 points and shot 47% from deep, good enough to help propel the efforts of the Knicks' second unit. Novak will be staying in the Big Apple for quite a while after signing a four year deal, worth $15 million.

To find more D-League alum talent, one wouldn't have had to look very far from New York at all. Louis Williams (who played for the Fort Worth Flyers in 2006) proved to be one of the best sixth men in the league last season as he and the 76ers almost came away with a division title. Williams averaged 11.4 points and 3.5 assists per game off the bench. In the offseason, he signed a lucrative contract with the Hawks, worth a whopping $25 million over four years.

Opportunities in the NBA for D-League players often come about when a team loses a rotation player or two due to injury. This was exactly the case for John Lucas III. With Derrick Rose down for the count, the Bulls depended on a brigade of floor generals to get them by. Lucas III, a D-League alum of two different squads, certainly helped fill the void. After averaging 7.5 points per game through 49 contests, Lucas III inked a three-year deal with the Raptors this offseason.

While playing for the Jazz earlier in his career, C.J. Miles was sent down to the D-League in both 2006 and 2007 in hopes it would help him develop. Fast forward to 2012, and Miles has seen his stock rise as he's been depended on as a steady role player, averaging 9.1 points per game this past season. He will look to achieve more of the same success with the Cavs next season after signing a two-year contract.

Like Green and Lucas, Ramon Sessions (a member of the Tulsa 66ers in 2007-08) is yet another D-League alum who came up in the clutch for a contending team. After being traded to the Lakers midseason, Sessions averaged 12.7 points and 6.2 assists in 23 contests for Los Angeles, going on to stand tall as their starting floor general during the postseason. Sessions cashed in on his success (literally) by signing a two year deal with the Bobcats, worth $10 million.

The list certainly doesn't stop there. Many other notable D-League talents have gone on to experience NBA success and sign contracts this offseason. With next season heavily approaching, many fans wonder who will shock the nation as the next Jeremy Lin.

Following in Lin's footsteps would be huge for any D-League player, but simply pulling a page out the book of other alum who have emerged as steady NBA role players wouldn't hurt either.

Tuesday Morning names Churches as new CEO

DALLAS (AP) -- Discount retailer Tuesday Morning named a former Big Lots Inc. executive as its new CEO.

The company said Tuesday it appointed Brady Churches as its CEO, effective immediately. Churches, who will also become a board member, most recently served as president of Marketing Results Ltd. He spent more than 20 years at Big Lots, including a stint as president from 1993 through 1995.

The 54-year-old Churches was also the president of Value City Department Stores' home store unit from 2002 through 2006.

Churches succeeds Kathleen Mason. Tuesday Morning Corp. fired Mason in June, saying then that it was time to transition leadership to a "new executive who will guide the company through its next stage." The Dallas retailer named Michael Marchetti, its executive vice president and chief operating officer, as interim CEO.

In August, Mason filed discrimination charges against Tuesday Morning, saying she was sent packing after the board learned she had breast cancer. Mason also is seeking unspecified damages and her old job back. The discrimination charges were filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Dallas.

Tuesday Morning said in a statement last month that Mason's termination was lawful. It also said that the accusation was without merit and that it intends to defend itself against the claims.

The company also reported in August that it lost $2 million in its fiscal fourth quarter and sales edged up 1 percent.

Tuesday Morning's stock added 7 cents to $5.66 in morning trading.

NASA mission to study magnetic explosions passes major review

ScienceDaily (Sep. 5, 2012) ? On August 31, 2012, NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission proved it was ready for its next steps by passing what's called a Systems Integration Review (SIR), which deems a mission ready to integrate instruments onto the spacecraft.

The MMS mission is due to launch in late 2014. It will observe a mysterious process called magnetic reconnection, which creates explosive bursts of energy and which powers a variety of space phenomena from the aurora to giant eruptions of radiation on the sun known as solar flares.

The spacecraft have been under construction, a process made all the more complex since MMS requires the building of four identical spacecraft.

The Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission is a Solar Terrestrial Probes mission comprising four identically instrumented spacecraft that will use Earth's magnetosphere as a laboratory to study the microphysics of three fundamental plasma processes: magnetic reconnection, energetic particle acceleration, and turbulence. These processes occur in all astrophysical plasma systems but can be studied in situ only in our solar system and most efficiently only in Earth's magnetosphere, where they control the dynamics of the geospace environment and play an important role in the processes known as "space weather."

For more information about NASA's MMS mission, go to: http://mms.gsfc.nasa.gov/

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner 3.0 released - gHacks Technology ...

Opinions are mixed when it comes to Registry cleaners. Some say that these programs are like snake oil, that do not really improve anything after they have been used to clean up the Registry. Others notice improvements, for instance in start up speed as the size of the Registry often gets reduced as a consequence if the Registry optimizer defragments the Registry after operation.

While you may get improvements in start up speeds, cleaning stray files or invalid entries usually does not have an effect on the system. Even worse, if programs identify keys improperly, it can lead to all kinds of issues afterwards. That said, there are still situations where you may want to run a Registry cleaner, for instance when the uninstallation of a program did not complete successfully and resulted in some weird behavior of the operating system.

Eusing Free Registry Cleaner 3.0 has just been released. It promises to make the computer faster and improve overall PC performance and stability. While that may not be the case for all systems it is run on, running it should not have any ill-effects on the system either as it comes with options to create a full Registry backup and restore any chances made during program use.

eusing free registry cleaner

I suggest you create a Registy backup first before you start to use the program. If you can, create a system backup as well to be on the safe side. When you first start the Registry cleaner you will notice the task list and sections on the left side of the screen. The sections let you pick specific locations or items, like startup programs, fonts or obsolete software, that you want scanned in the Registry.

A click on scan registry issues starts the scan which should take less than a minute to complete. All issues found are displayed after the scan on the right pane. Here you can verify the issues and uncheck problems that you do not want the program to resolve during clean up. You find an option under Edit to save all the program?s findings to a text document for safe keeping or further analysis. A click on repair registry issues removes the invalid entries from the Registry.

As far as additional features go: you can restore previous optimizations in case something went wrong, e.g. a program that you rely on is not starting anymore, and add values or keys to an ignore list so that they are never deleted from the Registry when the program is used.

How Important Is Email Marketing To Online Business? | THMG.com

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Online businesses such as e-shops can boost revenue via a variety of advertising methods such as traditional media advertising, online advertising and email marketing. Both traditional media advertising and online advertising can cost a lot of money because they cost money to design and the advertiser must pay to display them. Email marketing on the other hand costs almost nothing since sending emails is completely free. The conversion rate also varies between the different types of advertising methods. Traditional media advertising and online advertising are mostly aimed at generating new customers. The conversion rate may be less than 10% since there are so much advertising these days people have developed the ability to subconsciously tune them out.

Email marketing on the other hand can be used to generate new customers as well as repeat customers. Emails are much more likely to catch

At least you can always hire someone to do the job if you really don't want to do it yourself. When gutters are not washed they can be loaded with the results in, dust, branches and other trash. When a gutter system is blocked, it will not only prevent water from emptying properly but it will also cause damage to gutter systems themselves. Jaguars RB Jones-Drew ends 38-day holdout, reports

FILE - This Dec. 5, 2011 file photo shows Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew running against the San Diego Chargers during the first half of an NFL football game, in Jacksonville, Fla. Jones-Drew's holdout appears far from over. (AP Photo/John Raoux, File)

(AP) ? Maurice Jones-Drew remains as passionate as ever about his value.

So when the Jacksonville Jaguars running back ended his 38-day holdout Sunday ? without a new contract ? he had no apologies, no regrets and no concerns about his standing with the franchise.

"I'm in a good place," he said. "I did something I felt was right, and I'm always going to feel right. I'm not going to feel wrong for what I did it at all. And that's why I can come back and not have a negative attitude. I think if you regret things, you're going to come back salty, be a distraction, things like that.

"I don't feel that way 'cause what I did was right. No one can tell me it was wrong. Not one person here can tell me what I did was wrong."

Jones-Drew arrived at the team facility Sunday morning, chatted with teammates and then had a 40-minute conversation with coach Mike Mularkey.

Later, he spent nearly half an hour answering questions about his holdout, even getting to a point where he told reporters to "make sure we all get this out of the way because I'm done after this."

"This is the last talk about the whole contract situation," he said. "We're going to more forward to football after this."

Jones-Drew considered skipping games, missing paychecks and causing an even bigger distraction for the team. Ultimately, though, he opted to report a week before the season opener. Jacksonville plays at Minnesota next Sunday.

"It really wasn't about budging," said Jones-Drew, who took a conditioning test later in the day. "For me, it got to the point where I wasn't going to be traded. Obviously, they weren't going to pay me. I could have easily sat out until Week 10, come back and been a distraction. It wasn't about that. I'm not going to come back and distract guys from playing the game the right way."

The NFL's leading rusher in 2011, Jones-Drew skipped the team's entire offseason schedule in what became a nasty contract dispute.

Mularkey can fine MJD up to $30,000 a day ? plus $60,000 for a three-day, mandatory minicamp in June ? meaning the total tab could end up being $1.2 million. Jones-Drew declined to reveal what he and Mularkey discussed regarding the potential fine.

Jones-Drew is scheduled to make $4.45 million in 2012 and $4.95 million next year.

He wanted to renegotiate the final two years of a five-year, $31 million deal that paid him nearly $22 million the last three seasons. Owner Shad Khan and general manager Gene Smith refused, not wanting to set a precedent of paying players in the middle of lucrative deals.

Things got tense after Khan said publicly that Jones-Drew's absence "doesn't even move the needle." Khan also said his message to Jones-Drew is the "train's leaving the station. Run, get on it."

Those comments didn't sit well with Jones-Drew, who would have accepted a trade if it meant getting a new deal.

"I was disappointed about the comments," Jones-Drew said. "I expect you guys or people outside the organization to make those comments like that. But when you do get it inside the organization, with how hard we work, with the time you put in through the offseason, the time you spend away from your family here at the facility, you expect a little more appreciation."

Khan welcomed Jones-Drew aboard Sunday.

"The Jaguars are a better football team today than we were yesterday, and now our entire franchise can move forward together and as one," Khan said in a statement. "Nothing more needs to be said. "

Coming off a career year, Jones-Drew wanted to be one of the NFL's highest-paid backs. His average salary per year ranks behind Minnesota's Adrian Peterson, Tennessee's Chris Johnson, Philadelphia's LeSean McCoy, Houston's Arian Foster, St. Louis' Steven Jackson, Carolina's DeAngelo Williams and Seattle's Marshawn Lynch.

The 27-year-old Jones-Drew signed his deal in 2009, before rushing for at least 1,300 yards in three consecutive seasons. He had a league-best 1,606 yards on the ground in 2011. Not only has he seemingly outperformed his contract, Jones-Drew is the face of the franchise and probably the only player on the roster known outside small-market Jacksonville.

"My production spoke for itself," he said. "At the end of the day, that's how it played out. I read some articles that said there's no way you can outperform a contract. That's a lie."

The Jaguars, though, felt like they paid him based on the expectation that he would flourish as a starter after spending the first three years of his career splitting carries with Fred Taylor. The team doesn't want to pay a running back into his 30s, especially one who takes as many pounding hits as Jones-Drew does. Plus, the Jaguars have missed the playoffs in each of his three seasons as the starter.

"I knew it was going to be a difficult situation," Jones-Drew said. "I had two years left. But the way I was raised, the way I grew up, is if you believe something you fight for it. You fight for whatever you believe. My production stated something. I fought for it, plain and simple.

"Yes, it went into a holdout and all these different things. At the end of the day, that's what it was about: my production and my value. I haven't stopped fighting. I'm going to come out and play."

But will playing get Jones-Drew a new contract? Or will MJD and the Jaguars be in a similar position next year?

"We're over it," he said. "It's solved for the time being and we're ready to move on."

BANGKOK (AP) ? A grandson of the creator of the Red Bull energy drink has been arrested for driving a Ferrari that struck a police officer and dragged his dead body down a Bangkok street in an early-morning hit-and-run, police said Monday.

Police took Vorayuth Yoovidhya, 27, for questioning after tracing oil streaks for several blocks to his family's gated estate in a wealthy neighborhood of the Thai capital.

He was facing charges of causing death by reckless driving and escaping an arrest by police but was released on a 500,000 baht ($15,900) bail.

Vorayuth admitted he drove the charcoal gray sports car but said the police officer's motorcycle abruptly cut in front of his vehicle, said police Maj. Gen. Anuchai Lekbamroong, the lead investigator in the case.

Bangkok's top police official, Lt. Gen. Comronwit Toopgrajank, said he took charge of the investigation after a lower-ranking policeman initially tried to cover up the crime by turning in a bogus suspect. Comronwit himself led a team of officers to search the compound of late Red Bull founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, one of Thailand's wealthiest men before he passed away this year, and confiscated a Ferrari with a badly damaged front bumper and broken windshield.

The victim, Sgt. Maj. Wichean Glanprasert, 47, was killed during a motorcycle patrol before dawn. Thai media reported that the car dragged the officer and his motorcycle for several dozen meters (feet) as it sped through the residential neighborhood.

Comronwit said he suspended the police officer who attempted to subvert the investigation.

"A policeman is dead. I can't let this stand. If I let this case get away, I'd rather quit," he told reporters. "I don't care how powerful they are. If I can't get the actual man in this case, I will resign."

Migron Outpost, West Bank

Israel completed evacuation of a large unauthorized West Bank settlement outpost on Sunday, culminating years of legal wrangling in a case that has become a rallying cry for hardline settler groups opposed to any withdrawal from occupied land claimed by the Palestinians.

By midday, all of?Migron's?roughly 300 residents had left, authorities said, two days ahead of a court-ordered deadline to clear out.

The fate of Jewish settlements lies at the heart of a three-year impasse in Mideast peace efforts. The Palestinians refuse to negotiate while Israel continues to expand settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, territories captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war and claimed by the Palestinians for a future state. They say the settlement construction is a show of bad faith.

Most of?Migron's?residents left voluntarily and peacefully, but officers dragged out a few youths who had holed themselves up in an evacuated trailer home. At another white prefab home, where a toy tractor and a bicycle with training wheels were left discarded outside, several youths climbed to the roof waving a large Israeli flag and refused to come down.

Moving just a few miles away

Authorities began loading residents' belongings onto large trucks, to be moved to temporary dwellings in an area settlement before?Migron?residents move into new homes elsewhere in the West Bank just a few miles away as part of a compromise with the residents.

Altogether, police arrested eight youths, all of them non-residents who came to?Migron?to protest the eviction. There were no reports of injuries.

Some 500,000 Israelis now live on occupied lands, nearly all of them in east Jerusalem or full-fledged settlements in the West Bank.

But several thousand live in the dozens of unauthorized outposts that dot the West Bank. Israel has repeatedly promised to remove unauthorized outposts, but in reality taken very little action. In many cases, officials have even been complicit, hooking up outposts to the power grid and providing access roads for the residents.

Migron among largest outposts

Built in 2001 by ultranationalist Israelis just 10 miles north of Jerusalem,?Migron?is among the largest outposts, and was widely seen as a symbol of the government's refusal or inability to confront the powerful settler lobby.

Last year, Israel's Supreme Court determined the outpost was built on private Palestinian land and must be dismantled, but petitions by the government and settlers delayed the pullout until now. After approving several delays in recent months, the Supreme Court last week set Tuesday as the final deadline.

In a text message from the Prime Minister's office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared his support for settlement ? an issue dear to his base ? despite having carried out, eventually, the court-ordered evacuation.

"We are committed to respecting the rule of law and we are committed to strengthening the settlement enterprise," he said.

"The pain is very great," said longtime settler leader Pinchas Wallerstein on Israel Radio. But?Migron?settler spokesman Itai Hemo told Army Radio that "there are many paths to victory," vowing?Migron's?evacuation would lead to two new settlements.

'Not above the law'

Anti-settlement activist Hagit Ofran of the dovish group Peace Now, who brought the?Migron?case to the Israeli court, also claimed victory.

Israeli settlers "are used to putting facts on the ground which become Israeli policy. We managed to prove that they are not above the law," Ofran said.

Israeli officials have worked to avoid the messy spectacle of forced evacuation that took place with previous settlement pullouts.

Also on Sunday, Israeli police said they arrested three Arab men suspected of having poisoned an Israeli family, a crime police said was politically motivated.

The three men ? one Palestinian and two Arab citizens of Israel ? are accused of having broken into the family's home last year and lacing a bottle of water with poison, from which the family members drank.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said a gag order on the case was lifted Sunday, but the men were arrested last month. The suspects are to be charged with attempted murder, he said.

Attacks by Palestinians on Israelis have become less frequent in recent years, but the poisoning incident was especially rare.
