The biggest value in this type of marketing is this. Once you have an email list, then you basically have a 'captive' audience in that you know who is interested in your field of business. You won't have to pay for ads or search marketing to get them to your site - all you need to do is produce an email with links and you can get them to visit your site.
To put it bluntly, you are no longer dependent on any third party who is going to charge you for their services. It also removes the overheads, and so therefore gives you a better chance to make money online and build a successful business.
Your main goal is to build your email marketing list as big as you can. The amount of money that you make will tie in with how many people are on your list. Some people say that for every person on your list, you should reckon on making an income of $1 each month. So therefore, a list of 5000 should mean that you make $5,000 a month - just from your emailing.
To get started, you need to know what a 'squeeze page' is. Basically it's a web page that is purely for capturing the names and email address of your visitors. There are some sites online that will help you to build a squeeze page without too much trouble. Some of them will charge a nominal fee, and others offer the service for free.
The best 'carrot' to offer the visitors to your page is access to some very interesting information that they cannot find easily online. This might be in the form of an ebook or even a free report. In exchange for entering their name and email address, you will give them access to the information or 'carrot'.
These days there is so much information online that you may not even have to write your own ebook. You could buy a PLR or 'private label rights' book to offer them. What this means is that once you buy this ebook, it is up to you with regards to what you do with it. You can rebrand it, rewrite it, edit it and reformat it if you like, just to make it purely your own.
Once you've found your 'bribe' or 'carrot', then you need an auto responder. I have my own favourites for this, but there are several available on the market, and at a good price too. Again, you will even be able to find some that offer a free service, by using a search engine to find them. The purpose of the auto responder is to collect the email addresses for you and it will also send out emails to your collection of subscribers.
Once people add their email address to the opt-in page, they will be sent a confirmation email that they will need to click. This is the 'double opt-in' part of it, and it's what will prevent you against any spam complaints. You need to avoid that at all costs as it could ruin your business otherwise.
So how do you get people to visit your squeeze page so that you can capture their details onto your list?
One of the most successful ways that I use is through the use of a solo ad. Basically it means that you pay somebody to send an email out to their list for you. It's a very efficient and effective way of building a targeted list. It will cost about $40 for 100 clicks, nobody can guarantee that these people will opt-in but that is a lot of targeted traffic.
With some time and effort, you'll soon have a successful business on your hands that is giving you the ability to make money online.
